Appeal to Nature

The appeal to nature is when you decide that some thing is "natural" and therefore better than some other thing that you judge as not natural.

The first problem with this logic is that the word "natural" is often vague and one person's opinion of what is natural could be different from another's. The second problem is that natural organisms evolved for their own benefit, most could care less about humans, and some would kill us given the opportunity. Naturalness is no guarantee of goodness.

Example

Don't eat that processed apple sauce! Eat these potato chips - they're all natural and organic so they're healthier.
